Jimma Child Sponsorship Program (DOC)

Individual Child Sponsorships
This Child Sponsorship Program (DOC) was created in conjunction with the Daughters of Charity to support children in vulnerable situations in the town of Jimma.
Children in this program are aged from pre-school to teens, and are often in orphan sibling groups or in homes where poverty and illness are seriously limiting the capacity of parents to provide adequately for them, leaving the children at risk of malnutrition and illiteracy.
A portion of the child sponsorship assists in providing food, including through the community garden, and educational support to disadvantaged children, many of whom would not be able to attend school without this assistance.
Another portion of the sponsorship is used for community development projects, such as building schools and houses, providing a tutoring program to help the children succeed in school, and providing assistance toward tertiary level education for older children.
The Covid pandemic and recent internal conflict has made conditions in Ethiopia much more difficult. Despite this, the sponsorship program continues to improve the lives of the children and their families. Many are attaining great scores at school that enable them to attend University with others being accepted into Training Courses, outcomes they could not even dream of without the support of our sponsors.
